We recently discussed in class the idea of junk science versus empirical science. Some websites promote junk science and some are clearly well documented examples of good science. What is a student to do?
Objective:
Research and document the science behind one environmental topic or issue of your choosing. Carefully cite your sources and produce a web page providing scientific information and resources for students to better understand your topic/issue.
Day 1 Assignment:
- Visit Environmentalism.com. Evaluate wether this site represents good or junk science.
- Choose an environmental issue or topic thate resonates with you and begin doing some preliminary research (find some scientific websites that deal with your topic).
- Start making a list of sites that provide scientific information and begin thinking about how you would explain and document the science behind your issue.
